What did you want to be when you were a child?
For long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted to be a designer. I wanted to create flowers you could wear. Or be an astronomer.. But with my terrible maths results I quickly realised that it couldn’t be possible ! hahah
Did you study art/design/fashion in school and how did you learn the skills you have today?
Yes I did study fashion in a school, it taught me how to manage the long nights of work, as we had to produce several projects at once. I taught myself how to use Photoshop which was my first step into graphic design.
I grew up in a family with a very important attention to art and creation. That was the beginning of my learning and curiosity process.
My professional experiences brought out the need for people to be happy with work therefore developing the best of myself
Who are your favourite fashion artists at the moment and how did they influence your work?
We just learn that Consuelo Castiglioni is leaving her own company Marni. That is one fashion designer who’s technique, designs and influences have been a very important part of the fashion industry in my opinion. The ability to create fashion through combing colour mixes, shapes that flatter the body with a touch of humour is a very unique skill. She gave me hope that there is room in the industry for that sort of fashion, through her simple but yet forgotten vision; Empowering Womanhood.
What’s your proudest achievement in your career?
At this point, my career is my proudest achievement. 6 years working as fashion designer and graphic designer for a range of companies, and 2 years working for my own company.
However I would say I’m pretty happy that Blumkine's first collection is sold in Tokyo and in Philadelphia !
