At Favotell our main aim is to bring fashion to light and introduce our audience to rising international artists. This week we would like you to meet Lyn Jun Park – Korean fashion designer and part-time textile teacher.
Lyn Jun Park was one of a select few to take part in London Fashion Salute Art exhibition where he showcased his new Pale Turquoise collection. We asked the designer a few personal questions to get an exclusive insight into his life and to understand the concept behind his new collection.
Please introduce yourself;
Your full name, where you are from,
where you currently live and what you currently do for a living/job?
My name is Lyn Jun Park. I am from Korea. I live in Seoul and work as a fashion designer and also a part-time textile design teacher at school.
Who did you want to be when you were a child?
I wanted to be a Fashion Designer when I was a middle school student.
Did you study at school for art and design and how did you learn the skills you have today?
I did, but all the skills that I have now are entirely self-taught. As a middle school student I developed an interest in fabrics and studied really hard to obtain enough knowledge on it. I am also interested in graphic design, and spend almost every evening studying Photoshop.
Who or what influences your work?
I am keen on Thierry Muggler and Comme Des Garcons. I love their artistic direction and creativity. A lot of my designs are created by mixing and matching looks and trends, for example lingerie elements and leather or other strong textures to make silhouette look more interesting. To me- more is always better. We need to be over the primary use of clothes.
Who is your favourite Artist at the moment?
Comme Des Garcons.
